One of the goals of Lietuvos Energija AB is management of the transmission system in the safest and most economical manner, with regard to environmental protection requirements and the interests of the transmission system users.
In its activities the company abides by the Law on Environmental Protection of the Republic of Lithuania and the requirements of International Conventions.
In the substations assigned to the transmission grid the following environmental protection activities are carried out:
- Waste inventory and utilisation
This type of waste might be compressor oil containing water, spent oil mixtures, lead and electrolyte scrap from accumulator batteries, etc. The entire process of hazardous waste utilisation is supervised.
- Rainwater treatment
Rainwater in the territories of transformer substations may be contaminated with oil products; therefore, nearly all transformer substations of the 330kV network have been equipped with rain water treatment facilities.
- Wastewater monitoring
Wastewater samples are taken and analysed in all transformer substations where wastewater treatment facilities are operating.
