Network

The backbone of the Lietuvos Energija telecommunication network consists of optic fibre communication lines installed on high voltage electric lines and by mounting the data transmission equipment in the main electricity substations. The network is reliably protected against unauthorised physical access.

The entire infrastructure of telecommunications is based on the ringed network topology within Lithuania. All major cities and district centres are linked by the network. Moreover, it is interconnected with the telecommunication networks of Latvian, Russian and Polish operators.

On the site of service provision we propose the capacity from E1 up to STM–16 in the synchronous data transmission network (SDH), as well as broadband communication service from 1 to 1000 Mbps.

The ITTC Information sector (Help Desk) maintains the services provided to customers 24 hours per day. Continuous monitoring of the telecommunications network and equipment ensures maximum availability of services. The ITT specialists guarantee full-scale and high quality servicing as well as prompt elimination of system faults.

Partners

The Baltic Optical Network (BON) is an alliance established in August 2002 on the basis of telecommunication divisions of the power companies in the Baltic States. The BON has control over the optic fibre network covering the whole region. Upon the interconnection of the power companies’ telecommunication networks, the BON has in its disposition a single high capacity direct line linking Central Europe with Scandinavia and Russia. The aim of the alliance is to render high-quality, large-scale data and voice transmission services to local and international companies operating in the field of telecommunications and information technologies. Transit data transmission service and data transmission within the region are provided at a capacity up to 2.5 Gbps.

After joining the alliance For Connecting Europe (4cE) in the autumn of 2003, Lietuvos Energija AB and its partners from the BON extended telecom connections from Western Europe to the Northeastern border of the continent.

The 4cE is an alliance of network operators in Northern, Central and Eastern Europe. The 4cE provides internet service suppliers, application service suppliers and multi-national corporate customers with broadband transmission capacity from 2 Mbps to 2.5 Gbps. The 4cE backbone network interconnects the economic centres of Denmark, Germany, Austria, Poland, the Czech Republic and the Baltic countries.
